In this video, we’ll explore Magens Bay, the most famous and beautiful beach in St. Thomas.
It’s located in the north side of the island, on the Atlantic Ocean.
It’s quite close to the east side of the island, as it’s only a twenty minute drive.
It’s a mile-long beach, with powdery white sand all the way. It was donated to the people of the Virgin Islands by Arthur Fairchild who made it a public park. It has an entry fee of around $2 per person.
The calm clear waters are great for swimming and safe for small children.
Restrooms with showers are available.
You can enjoy lunch at the restaurant, and an afternoon kayaking.
Snorkeling is possible along the rocky coast.
Away from the restaurant area, you will find fewer people.
A long time ago Sir Francis Drake, an English privateer in the 1500s, used Magens Bay as an anchorage while waiting for ships to plunder.
Several commercial and movie scenes were filmed at Magens Bay including a scene from “The Twilight – the Breakdown Part 1”.
