Crea Wins Support at GOP County Convention

Soon after Tiny Egg Harbor Township Committeewoman and previous Mayor Barbara “Bobbi Jo” Crea attained the endorsement of the Ocean County Republican Screening Committee in February to run for the seat of present-day Ocean County Commissioner Gerry Little, who is retiring at the end of his phrase, she stated she was assured county Republicans would vote for her as effectively at their conference in March.
She was right to be assured. She attained the endorsement of the Ocean County GOP at the convention and will now operate in the June principal on the official county Republican line, “The Normal Republican Corporation of Ocean County.”
As for other Southern Ocean County candidates, all incumbents, they have been endorsed at the conference. Ninth District condition Sen. Christopher J. Connors and Assembly customers Brian E. Rumpf and DiAnne C. Gove as properly as Ocean County Commissioner Gary Quinn will operate for reelection. Ocean County Commissioner Jack Kelly will be managing for an additional position as a condition committeeman.
The Standard Republican Corporation of Ocean County will also support Jack Ciattarelli for governor. Ciattarelli was a member of the N.J. Normal Assembly from 2011 to 2018. He ran for governor in 2017 but misplaced to time period-limited Gov. Christie’s Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno by a 46.82% to 31.08% margin.
Hirsh Singh, who has declared he is operating for the GOP nod for governor and who will probably be Ciattarelli’s main foe, gained only 9.76 % of the votes in the 2017 Republican gubernatorial key. He was also a applicant for New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District in 2018, losing in the main to Seth Grossman by a 39.% to 30.5% margin. But in 2020 he ran a close race against Rik Mehta in the GOP primary for the U.S. Senate. Mehta gained 154,817 votes to Singh’s 146,133 in the five-prospect race.
Other announced Republicans functioning for governor involve Brian Levine, a former mayor of Franklin Township, Philip Rizzo, a pastor of a Hoboken church who has generally criticized Gov. Phil Murphy for not opening businesses and educational institutions and who is a robust Trump supporter and David Winkler, a really adorned veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2005 to 2009 and in the U.S. Military from 2009 to 2019. He was deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and the Republic of South Korea.  —R.M.
