Stafford Township Police Detectives have caught two shoplifters hoping to steal much more than $4,600 worth of merchandise concealed in a garbage can at the Manahawkin Residence Depot shop on Monday, Jan. 11.
The bureau experienced been alerted about a suspicious pair inside of the keep, so Dets. Drew Smith and Erik Smithman investigated. They went and performed surveillance at the keep, where they saw the male and feminine topics leaving with a cart that contains a big garbage can and other things.
Detectives approached the subjects in the parking good deal immediately after mastering they experienced not paid out for the merchandise in their cart.
The male suspect was quickly detained and recognized as Anthony Webb, 34, of Port Jarvis, N.Y. The woman tried out to run, but was detained (by Ptl. Karl Eiker) and determined as Kerry Connors, 26, of Middletown, N.Y.
Detectives later searched the suspects’ motor vehicle, which led to the recovery of added stolen residence from another shoplifting incident that experienced transpired the prior Saturday, Jan. 9, at a House Depot in Newton.
Webb and Connors ended up billed with shoplifting, conspiracy to dedicate shoplifting, and acquiring stolen residence. They have been released pending a potential courtroom look in Ocean County Superior Court with a day still to be established.  —V.F.
