It’s Shipwreck ⚓️ Sunday, so grab your coffee ☕️ and check out the story of the Santa Rosa and the Valchem!

.
On March 26, 1959, the screw steamer the Santa Rosa, collided with the Valchem, an oil screw tanker, in a thick fog 20 miles east of Atlantic City while returning from a cruise to Nassau. A spokesman from the @uscg stated that the Santa Rosa’s bow sliced halfway through the Valchem into the engine room near the stern. At the time of the crash, it was reported to be partly cloudy with 8 miles of visibility. One crew member aboard the Valchem was killed and 5 others were injured in the collision. There were no reported injuries on the Santa Rosa.
