Summer’s finish may be in sight, but with 50 percent of August remaining, the Very long Beach Township Marine Education Field Station even now has lots of occasions on the docket. Find out about oysters, ospreys and the existing hurricane time, or indication up for a “build-your-individual terrarium” workshop!
On Friday, Aug. 20, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Christine Thompson of Stockton University will guide a presentation, for all ages, on oysters. Thompson will go over “this fascinating reef-constructing animal and how scientists are functioning to make oyster reefs in Barnegat Bay,” as the industry station clarifies. The celebration will feature hands-on demos and actions.
The pursuing week at the facility commences with a hurricane chat scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23. Meteorologist Joe Martucci from The Push of Atlantic City “will chat about how the 2021 hurricane time has been and what we can be expecting for the rest of it,” the facility notes. “He will also briefly reflect on the twister that touched down in Large Bar Harbor very last thirty day period.”
Then on Wednesday, Aug. 25, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Ben Wurst, habitat system manager with Preserve Wildlife Basis of New Jersey, offers a chat titled “New Jersey’s Fish Hawk: The Amazing Osprey.” As the area station points out, “In 1974, only 50 osprey nests were remaining in N.J. Now, ospreys are a widespread sight alongside the coastline in the course of the summer season. Understand about the incredible everyday living heritage of ospreys, latest monitoring strategies and their awesome comeback.”
On Monday, Aug. 30, from 10 a.m. to 12 midday, Help you save Barnegat Bay will direct a rain barrel-setting up workshop, with all materials supplied for attendees.
