‘Lost’ Sailor Headed to Maryland Beaches in Harvey Cedars Sunday Night

A sailboat operator who seemingly turned disoriented on the drinking water ran aground off Atlantic Avenue in Harvey Cedars Sunday evening.
Police Main Robert Burnaford explained Victor Digilio experienced purchased the 27-foot-boat in New York and was sailing it to his dwelling state of Maryland.
“But as it obtained darker, he shed track of the place he was,” reported Burnaford.
He explained Digilio walked up to Atlantic Avenue to get support. Brothers Dave and Terry Deakyne and another neighbor, Joe Hall, secured the boat by tying it to a dune fence and putting an anchor.
“He (Digilio) looked dropped,” claimed Dave Deakyne. “He did not seem to be to have any notion where he was. But he was very tranquil.”
Apart from the police, the Superior Level Volunteer Hearth Co. and the Barnegat Light Initially Aid Squad also responded. Deakyne claimed law enforcement drove Digilio to Resort LBI in Ship Base, in which he invested the evening.
TowBoatUS in Waretown retrieved the vessel Monday morning.
Burnaford mentioned Digilio was not injured.
“The boat didn’t seem to be like it was damaged,” he mentioned. “He was fortuitous that he was capable to get help proper absent. Receiving lost like that can be a really frightening predicament.”  —E.E.
