Adhering to current problems by numerous citizens about incidents of heckling and verbal abuse at a park in the Ocean Acres portion of Stafford Township, the law enforcement section issued a easy reminder to the public on Monday, Sept. 28.
“Due to the new ongoing disturbances at the Ocean Acres Elementary Faculty and Nautilus Park, Stafford Police would like to remind the community that all township and county parks are closed from sunset to dawn,” the statement reads. “Many of these disturbances have included teams of juveniles throughout right after-school and evening several hours. We check with mother and father to go over and check these problems with their small children. More patrol will be done at neighborhood parks to implement municipal ordinances.”
On Sept. 19, a resident described to the “Stafford Dad and mom!!” Facebook room that a “group of teenagers” ended up “completely out of management,” shouting profanities as the guy walked by with his puppy and 2-year-aged daughter.
“As I was leaving, a battle broke out,” the resident claimed. “I could listen to blows landing from the parking large amount at the conclusion of Buccaneer (Lane).”
The Facebook write-up ignited a lot more than four dozen reviews, some of which detailed very similar alleged incidents involving groups of teens cursing at passersby, vaping and littering the park.
Stafford Law enforcement Main Thomas Dellane said his patrol staff are mindful of the complaints and have ramped up their monitoring of the park grounds, particularly for the duration of the evenings.
“We check social media, and if there is an problem, we attempt to concentrate some interest toward it as quickly as possible,” stated Dellane, noting that when law enforcement have been known as to the park, they have not witnessed any such incidents. “We’ll have some patrols going by there a little bit much more for now. We know youngsters have various conditions suitable now, and they could possibly be out and about a lot more due to the fact they are completed before with faculty, but we’re still heading to do what we will need to do to keep the parks distinct during shut hrs.”
Dellane stated none of the juveniles allegedly concerned in these incidents have been taken into custody or billed with just about anything.
“It’s not to say we’re not possessing some difficulties there, it’s just we haven’t had to do a lot more than what we’ve accomplished, which is enforce the closing of the park from dusk to dawn,” he explained. “We’ve been termed there for fights, but we have not viewed any of them.”
