To the Editor:
I have lived in South Jersey my full life. I have numerous fond memories of kayaking in our rivers and of observing the solar increase about the Atlantic. I witnessed Superstorm Sandy’s devastating affect on my group, and I listen to the continued struggles of Sandy victims over eight years afterwards.
Amplified flooding in our communities has demonstrated that the results of weather adjust are not a difficulty for tomorrow they are starting off already.
Except we take drastic motion soon, I and a lot of members of my neighborhood, notably doing the job class folks, will sometime be compelled to go away the position we call home simply because of flooding.
As a 21-calendar year-aged, I’ve grown up in a time when the local weather change crisis and sea amount rise are evidently a threat to my foreseeable future and the foreseeable future of my beloved types. This manufactured me request solutions. Thoroughly clean power is necessary to combating weather modify and rising seas, and offshore wind is the sensible alternative in this article in New Jersey.
Making an offshore wind application, just one that provides the chance of employment and education, requires collaboration. We will have to get the job done together to ensure that it advantages our communities by doing the job intently with workplaces of authorities and planning. Local climate adjust, particularly sea amount increase listed here in our state, is a threat to our foreseeable future. We require to develop, alongside one another, a method that carries hope for our communities and for the futures of our households.
